Earl Sterndale Methodist Church

Earl Sterndale is a small village close to the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border. We are a small chapel with excellent facilities. The building has been modernised and serves not only as a place of worship but also as a facility for the local community. The village does not have a village hall.

The members arrange a monthly coffee morning for the community as a time of getting together and although most attending are retired we have formed a link with the school and a small group of children join us for about half an hour.

Worship - we share services with Hollinsclough so meet on alternate weeks. Messy Church is becoming well established with up to 15 children and 5 mothers attending each month. Two members help the Circuit Youth Worker run sessions. Our links with the Anglican Church in the village are friendly (the Church Warden plays the piano at our services) but as yet there are no joint events or services. This is something we would like to pursue.

Our hope for the future is to maintain a Christian presence by continuing to build links with the community, have greater contact with visitors to the area and to enjoy the mutual support of the other churches in the Circuit.
